For many fishing enthusiasts, spending the first days of the season at Hotel La Romantica is a tradition that has been renewed for years. Starting from May 1st, with the opening of the fishing season, Lake Poschiavo transforms into a magical setting, perfect for experiencing your passion.
Fishing Services – Everything You Need
Our hotel offers rowing boats for our guests. For added comfort, these can be equipped with an engine for an additional CHF 25 per day. Alternatively, we provide a bow-mounted electric motor with GPS guidance for CHF 40 per day.
You’ll also find fishing bait and small accessories at the hotel. With three generations of experience, we speak the same language as anglers, ready to share tips and advice for a successful day on the lake.

Trout and Char – The Magic of Fishing in Valposchiavo
Fishing in the Valposchiavo region focuses on two main species: brown trout, often crossbred with lake trout, and char. In some alpine lakes, and more rarely in Lake Poschiavo at Le Prese, more experienced anglers can catch impressive specimens of Canadian trout (Namaycush Char) – a rare but highly rewarding catch.
Fishing Techniques for Every Enthusiast
Fishing with nymphs
This classic technique from Swiss lakes is also common in our region. We recommend using hooks sized 12-16. Each angler may use up to three rods, strictly with barbless hooks, to respect the environment and ensure sustainable fishing.
Trolling with a convoy or depth reels
This technique is particularly effective for char and requires patience and precision. It’s important to troll slowly at around 1.5 km/h, using lures like 2-3 spoons, supplemented with bee larvae, pieces of alburnus, or worms. This technique works best in depths between 20 and 30 meters.
Fly fishing on the lake
An elegant and sophisticated method, yielding excellent results, especially from late May to mid-June, provided the temperature and water conditions are favorable. Ideal for those looking for precision and style in fishing.
Spinning fishing – Tradition and Innovation
Spinning for trout, known as “Bamali fishing” in our region, is an ancient tradition. While artificial lures are often used today, the charm and magic of this traditional technique remain unmatched.

With 12 alpine lakes, kilometers of mountain streams, and the possibility of fishing in nearby Valtellina along the famous Adda River, it offers a wide range of opportunities.
